Coach William (DJ) Douglas Mitchell

I’ve played baseball my entire life and have been blessed to achieve success at each level from little league all-stars, AAU traveling team, American Legion, four-years of varsity at North Forsyth High School to Clemson University to MLB.  Here are a few highlights:

CLEMSON:

            •           Freshmen Year 2015-06- Started all games in College World series in right field; Made the ACC all-tournament Team and won ACC Tournament

            •           Summer 2006 –Winning pitcher of the Petit Cup with the Thomasville HiToms

            •           Sophomore Year 2006-07- Started season in right field, moved to pitcher’s mound and went 5-0 with 3.27 ERA

            •           Summer 2007- Pitched for the Cape Cod Bourne Braves, led the Cape Cod league in strikeouts; ERA in top 5

            •           Junior Year 2007-08- First full year of pitching; First team all ACC; drafted 10^th round by N.Y. Yankees

PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL:

            •           2009- Experienced success between Low A MiLB Charleston Riverdogs and High A MiLB Tampa Yankees with a 2.63 ERA and 12 wins, 7 losses

            •           2010 – Experienced success with AA MiLB Trenton Thunder; Named to Eastern League All-Star Team

            •           2011-Experienced success with AAA MiLB Scranton Yankees; 13-9 record and 3.18 ERA; Earned Yankee’s Minor League Pitcher of the Year award

            •           2012- Made major league debut New York Yankees; Finished season with 3.86 ERA

            •           Traded to Seattle Mariners for future hall of famer, Ichiro Suzuki

            •           Played for N.Y. Mets and finished professional baseball in the Independent Baseball League; Named to All-Star Team
