About Us
Twin City
In 1961, a group of concerned citizens of
East Winston Community developed a baseball program for the underprivileged
children of our community. Mr. Peyton Hairston led this endeavor and formed the
Youth Baseball League. The baseball league progressed over the years and in 1972
was chartered and named Twin City Little League.
During that time, great people like
Clarence “Bighouse” Gaines and Robert Dunlap invested valuable time in the local
youth, developing character that allowed them to be productive citizens today.
Twin City Little
League serves more than 300 children ages 5
through 16 girls and boys in our community and is a chartered member of The
Little League Baseball Programs of America based in Willamsport, Pennsylvania.
Twin City Little League has a staff of volunteers who donate their time,
teaching and mentoring to these kids in a positive way. We also seek help from
communities, business to help us thrive so the kids can have an opportunity to
play ball in a safe environment.
For years we have provided a
safe haven, recreational outlet, baseball skill development and fun-friendly
environment for the youth of our community. Through involvement with Twin City
Little League our players learn:
-
The fundamental skills and
logistics of the game of baseball.
-
The importance of sportsmanship, fair play and becoming a
valuable team member.
-
To appropriately socialize and develop friendships and
relationships with peers.
-
Character education, leadership skills and qualities.
-
The importance of honesty, courage, loyalty and respect for
authority.
-
How to engage in healthy competition and have fun playing the
game of baseball.
At Twin City Little League, our
players are the pride and joy of our organization. Thanks for your interest in
our baseball family. We look forward to you and your family joining us. May you
continue to be richly blessed. Enjoy the 2010 Spring Season.
